The Challenge
To post seven lines from an unpublished work of fiction. My seven lines are taken from The Dating Game, due out later this year. The Dating Game is contemporary fiction - or, if you will, chick-lit without fluff!! Although I like to read chick lit, I simply can't write it.
So the rules -
- Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript (fiction or non-fiction).
- Go to line 7.
- Post on your blog the next 7 lines, or sentences, as they are–no cheating.
- Tag 7 other authors to do the same–and have fun.
'Thank goodness the day was over. Now that Gill had made up
her mind, she was determined to pay a visit to Happy Ever After’s offices in
Park Circus. Fortunately, it turned out
to be walking distance from the office, just.
She set off at a brisk pace on the twenty minute walk.
Checking her reflection in the wing mirror of a handily
positioned BMW, she satisfied herself she had nothing stuck between her
teeth. Ok, she was ready. Looking left and right, to double-check
no-one she knew was passing, Gill sped up the stairs of the Georgian townhouse,
headquarters of Happy Ever After’s
dating agency.'
My nominations for those I would like to display their 7 sentences for the world to see, go to:
Terry Tyler
Seumas Gallacher
Joanne G Phillips
Leigh Parker
Tracie Banister
Stuart Peel
Ron Culley
Post it on your blog or failing that on Facebook or Goodreads. Will you accept the challenge?!
Very nice Sooz. Love it.
ReplyDeletethanks hon - glad you liked it! Have loved all the Lucky 7s I have seen. Great to be plopped down in the middle of someone's chapter without knowing what went before!
DeleteHello Susan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this bit of your manuscript! It sounds like it's going to be a fun read! Looking forward to it. I was recently nominated for a similar challenge, called the Lucky 7 Meme Challenge. If you'd like, you can see that at my blog, here: http://www.amandafanger.blogspot.com/2012/05/lucky-7-meme-challenge.html
Once again, thank you for sharing!
hi Amanda, thanks for your comment, I will have a look at your Lucy 7 Meme - Happy Writing, Sooz
ReplyDeleteI like that excerpt, Sooz! You'll have to hurry up and finish this one :) Thanks for taking up the challenge :)
ReplyDeletethanks Maria, glad you like it. Almost had heart attack yesterday, as somehow managed to delete 16 chapters...Fortunately I email myself each night, but I still lost 5 pages. By some miracle, I had printed off the whole MS so far to redraft, so only have to type those 5 pages back in. Phew!
ReplyDeleteOMG that would have been a nightmare!!! Glad you rescued it!!
